Online Training in Disaster Response Is Available
The Committee on Trauma launched two new online disaster response courses on the ACS LMS. Advanced Disaster Medical Response focuses on the multidisciplinary team’s field response to disasters, while eDMEP, an online version of Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness, focuses on the hospital’s response to disasters. While these courses were developed for individual learners, including medical students, residents, hospital faculty, and trauma center staff, discounted bulk orders are available for teams and groups that will benefit from critical disaster management and response training. If you are interested in purchasing five or more registrations in either course, reach out to traumaeducation@facs.org.

Help Eliminate Duplicate Records
Duplicate records in the Trauma Education CMS can cause challenges for learners and course administrators. To mitigate this situation, Coordinators should inquire if the individual has taken an ACS Trauma Education course previously, and inquire what email address may have been used at that time. If necessary, update the email address in the CMS, or if a learner is an ACS member, contact traumaeducation@facs.org to update. Otherwise, it is important to confirm what name was used, including different surnames, aliases, or abbreviations. This will help ensure a duplicate profile is not created.

Dual Enrollment in LMS Is Causing Access Issues
The Trauma Education Team is actively resolving an issue that prohibits learners from accessing their current course materials in the LMS if they have been previously enrolled in that same course type and length (e.g., Refresher Course 1 day). It is recommended that Coordinators check the learners’ course histories in the CMS and inform the Trauma Education Team of anyone who has been enrolled in the same course type/length previously. Learners should email traumaeducation@facs.org as soon as possible if they encounter this issue. This will no longer be an issue once ATLS 11 launches!
